With the Pens triple overtime win last night, hockey continues for at least a few more nights. Too bad all that really matters is the Flyers opening day in October, four long months away...
Its Playoff Time
Growing up as a Flyer fan, you just expect the Orange and Black to roll in the playoffs. In 41 seasons, 32 playoff appearances with 2 Stanley Cups have made the boys a traditional power in the NHL.
And then came last season... Worst in franchise history, worst in the East, worst in the NHL. It was tough.
With some retooling in the front office and some key additions, the boys are back in the Playoffs this year and looking strong. Even though they are a 6 seed, things are happening.
Here are the highlights from last night as the Flyers took a 3-1 series lead on the hated Capitals from DC:
Now, we need to keep this momentum going, close out the series on Saturday, and roll on in the playoffs.
GO FLYERS!!
New People Search
After a couple long weeks of programming, testing, and experimenting, our new people search is up and running.
The new search is entirely service driven - allowing the search to be performed through our new template system. With an arbitrary search string, including network determined profile fields, people can now search for users with much more specific targetting. For example, if a network has a profile field called 'favorite concert', a search can now target users with certain words in their favorite concert rather than their entire profile.
Another major addition is the ability to search for users in a geographical circle. In other words, you can now find all users within X miles of a particular zip code. This feature, combined with existing profile matching, should greatly enhance our search functionality.
The Madness Begins...
In only a few short hours, the time known as march madness begins.
Good luck to everyone involved in the ONEsite bracket challenge.
Sanding and Staining and Dust, Oh My!
Well, another weekend and the dust piles have grown. The cabinet refinishing project is coming along nicely - hopefully we'll have all the doors done this week and we can get them put back on this weekend.
The project started with removing all the doors, sanding down all the cabinets on the wall and staining, then sanding and staining the doors, and finally putting it all back together with new hardware.
This was phase 1 - the sanding. If you ever get the chance to do this yourself, don't. Starting from scratch with new wood (or at least the cabinet parts not already on the wall) would've been so much easier.
After all the sanding and dusting, we have finally finished staining the cabinets on the wall. Next up - the 25 doors and drawer faces. Should be fun!
