Orson Scott Card
Just so everyone knows, I am reading 'Treason' right now.
I would also like to read 'Enders Game' but they don't have it at the library.
So, when I'm done with 'Treason' I might check if anyone has a copy of 'Enders Game' to read.
I could always buy another copy, but I've been enjoying getting books at the library for two reasons:
1) My kids go and get books and they love it.
2) It makes me read my book in two weeks, so puts me accountable to get it done.
So, that's that for now.
John Grisham
I have decided that I have read too much Grisham lately. I mean the things that he comes up with are so crazy. I'm sitting there reading, saying to myself, surely he's not going to go there, and then he ends up going there.
The Testament was really good.
It was certainly worth the week or two invested, although the ending was not favorable to me.
Then, Grisham goes bonkers with the book The Brethren. I started reading it before my vacation.
I am almost done with this one, and it has been the craziest read thus far. I'll tell you if I'm impressed with the ending.
So, I am contemplating reading another Grisham or turning to Clancy or Crichton, etc.
The APFT Aftermath
To take a line from the Bernstein Bears "Weekend at Grandma's" book, I can feel it in my bones.
For some reason, I nailed the push ups, which was unexpected, at 70%. A total of 50 in 2 minutes.
I knew the situps were challenging, considering I am "top heavy", which is a nice way to put it, 42 in 2 minutes (50%+).
Then, on the run, my first mile was great. I hit it in about 7:30. But on the way back, I did the worst thing you can do...
I started walking. A big no, no. BUT, I hung in there and sprinted the last tenth of a mile at 18:46 total.
So, 41% was my ending score for the run, which is much better than my 25 minute effort 9 months ago.
I think overall, I hit a number that will yield a prize, but I am just glad to have done well in each category.
Can't wait for some of the pics to begin circulating...
